Hampton

Hi all. I'm new to this forum stuff allthough I have read a lot. I grew up with jeeps and 4wd at cub level. My dad took us all 4wding and did competition back in the 70,s. back in those days it was all jeeps landrovers and rangerovers. Cruiser 40s were fairly common and early patrols were about as well, suzukis were just getting popular. There used to be a saying "gravity would beat a 40 in the end". Time passed and I stayed away from jeeps I knew what it took to run one. Dad passed away a few years ago and  he had five jeeps at the time We took him to the cemetary on the back of his J20 with a jeep convoy of about 12 jeeps. Made an impressive sight I tell you. The jeeps were named in his will and guess what, I inherited a 1983 CJ8. So much for staying away from jeeps. Thats been a story in itself but not what I am about here. I'm building up a 1975 FJ 40. I done a deal and I've got a few bits, namely a registered rolling chassis another rolling chassis with a tub and front clip and a galv bj42 chassis (see Classifieds). Other stuff I already have is a shot range rover which has 60 LC diffs and a AWESOME Isuzu 4BD1T coupled up to a late model LC five speed and splitcase vacuum shif transfer. The isuzu unit will be going in along with the sixty hubs and discs I've got a sixty power steer box and the isuzu has a built in power steer pump. I need a sixty column and wheel and seventy drag links.  I will put in a 40 full floater for the back converted to sixty brake plates and hand brake. My goal is a tough usable reliable work truck. I will 4wd it but intend to save the hard stuff for the jeep if I can keep it going LOL. Sorry to rabbit on but there it is.. seeya  Alan
